Gloss: AI Skin Analysis for iPhone

Gloss lets you scan your skin with a selfie, get an AI-generated glow score with four metric scores (hydration, clarity, texture, radiance), follow a personalized routine, and track your progress over time. If something isn't working or you have a question that isn't answered below, email us — we read everything.

Scans & scores

How does the skin analysis work?

When you take or select a selfie, Gloss securely sends it to our server, where an AI vision model analyzes the cosmetic appearance of your skin and generates your glow score, four metric scores, and short observations and tips. The photo itself is discarded immediately after the analysis — only the resulting scores and text are saved to your history. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How do I get the most accurate scan?
Why did my score change even though my skin looks the same?

Scores are AI estimates and can vary between scans due to lighting, camera angle, distance, and normal day-to-day skin changes. Small fluctuations are expected — the trend over weeks matters much more than any single scan. If you see a big unexplained swing, retake the scan in better lighting.

Is Gloss a medical app? Can it detect skin conditions?

No. Gloss is a cosmetic and wellness tracking tool. It cannot detect, diagnose, monitor, or treat any medical or dermatological condition, and its scores are not medical information. If you have any concern about your skin — moles, lesions, persistent irritation, or anything changing — please see a dermatologist or doctor. Never delay medical care because of anything in the app.

My scan failed or got stuck. What do I do?
  1. Check your internet connection — scans need a connection to run.
  2. Force-quit the app (swipe up from the app switcher) and try again.
  3. Make sure you're on the latest version of Gloss in the App Store.
  4. If you're on the free tier, you may have reached the daily scan limit — it resets each day.
  5. Still stuck? Email us with your device model and iOS version and we'll dig in.

Subscriptions & billing

What is Gloss+ and what does it include?

Gloss+ is our paid subscription. It unlocks the full experience, including expanded scanning and personalization beyond the free tier's daily limits. Pricing and current plan options (monthly or yearly) are shown in the app before you subscribe.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your App Store account, so everything is managed in your iPhone settings:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
  3. Select Gloss to change plans or cancel.

Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Note: deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

How do free trials work?

If a free trial is offered, billing starts automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before then, using the same steps as above. You can cancel immediately after starting a trial and still use it for the full trial period.

How do I request a refund?

Apple handles all payments, so refunds go through Apple rather than through us:

  1. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in with your Apple ID.
  2. Find your Gloss purchase and choose "Request a refund."

Apple makes the refund decision under its own policies. If you run into trouble, email us and we'll do our best to help.

I subscribed but the app still shows me as free.
  1. In the app, go to Settings and look for a "Restore Purchases" option, and tap it.
  2. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID that made the purchase.
  3. Force-quit and reopen the app.
  4. If it's still not showing, email us — subscription status can occasionally take a moment to sync, and we can check it on our end.

Account & data

Do I need an account to use Gloss?

No — you can start using Gloss anonymously. Creating an account (with email, Apple, or Google sign-in) is optional, but it means your scan history survives if you delete the app, reinstall, or switch to a new phone.

What happens to my photos?

Your scan photo is used only to run the analysis and is then discarded — it is not saved to our servers, not written to our database, and not used to train AI models by us. A small thumbnail may be kept on your own device only, so you can see your timeline. Only your scores and short text observations are stored with your account. The full breakdown is in Section 2 of our Privacy Policy.

How do I delete my account and all my data?

In the app, go to Settings → Delete account & data. This permanently deletes your account, profile, scan history, and usage records from our systems, and clears data stored on your device. You can also request deletion by emailing glossaiskn@gmail.com with the subject "Delete my account" from the email on your account.

How do I get a copy of my data?

Email us at glossaiskn@gmail.com with the subject "Data request" from the email associated with your account, and we'll send you a copy of the personal data we hold. More on your rights in our Privacy Policy.

I moved to a new phone. How do I keep my history?

If you created an account, just install Gloss on the new phone and sign in — your scores and history sync automatically. If you were using Gloss anonymously without an account, history is tied to the old install and can't be transferred, so we recommend creating an account before switching devices.

App issues & settings

The camera isn't working in the app.

Gloss needs camera permission to take scans. Go to iPhone Settings → Apps → Gloss (or Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera) and make sure Camera access is turned on. You can also add scans from your photo library instead if you prefer.

How do reminders work, and how do I turn them off?

Scan and routine reminders are optional local notifications generated on your device. Manage them inside the app's settings, or turn notifications off entirely in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Gloss.

The app crashes or won't open.
  1. Update to the latest version of Gloss from the App Store.
  2. Restart your iPhone.
  3. If it keeps happening, delete and reinstall the app. If you have an account, your history is safe and will sync back when you sign in. (If you're anonymous, note that reinstalling clears local history — email us first if you're worried.)
  4. Still crashing? Email us with your device model and iOS version.
What languages and regions does Gloss support?

Gloss is available on the App Store in multiple countries, with localized store listings including English, German, Polish, and Spanish. If something looks wrong in your language, email us — we genuinely want to fix it.

Feedback & feature requests

I have an idea or found something annoying.

Send it to glossaiskn@gmail.com with the subject "Feedback." Gloss is actively developed and user suggestions directly shape what gets built next. If you're enjoying the app, a rating on the App Store helps a lot too.
